In March 2021, YDT's Yiwu branch opened.
Yiwu has the highest density of small-commodity exports in China and is a natural extension of our truck express line. Before this, Yiwu cargo had to go to Fujian or another consolidation point first — an extra transshipment meant an extra day and one more handling risk. After the branch opened, Yiwu cargo is picked up and consolidated locally, cutting all those steps.
Yiwu's cargo structure differs from Fujian's, another reason we set up here:
- More varied categories — jewelry, stationery, daily goods, holiday items, with SKU counts far exceeding footwear;
- Smaller, denser batches — one client may ship several consignments a week, demanding high pickup frequency;
- Big seasonal swings — holiday-goods shipping peaks are very concentrated.
For these traits we adjusted the Yiwu point's workflow: higher pickup frequency and simplified small-batch warehousing, so clients shipping several times a week need not wait to consolidate volume.
The logic of network expansion
We never choose a point by "which city is famous", only by "does that sourcing base have enough clients to justify posting staff". Yiwu clearly does.
